Small Business Server 2008

Two Servers in One

The first Small Business Server release in five years and Microsoft is packing a 1-2 punch! It’s still bundled with what we know and love including: Windows Server 2008 technologies, email capabilities through Exchange, document and file sharing through SharePoint Services 3.0 and automated server updates. In addition, Small Business Server 2008 will no longer be limited to just 4 GB of memory.

To sweeten the deal, SBS 2008 Premium Edition comes bundled with SQL 2005 and 2008 as well as an additional Windows Server license so that you can put SQL and your line of business applications on a separate server. Premium Edition will feature SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2005 Standard edition, a significant change from SBS 2003 R2’s SQL 2005 WorkGroup Edition.

Windows Essential Business Server (WEBS) 2008

Finally, a server for mid-sized businesses!

Microsoft recognized that companies larger than 75 users have a need for a server solution similar to Small Business Server. Enter Windows Essential Business Server, which gives mid-sized companies with 25 to 300 users the same bundled capabilities of SBS 2008 including Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL (included in the Premium version).

SQL 2008

It’s not sexy, but it’s necessary

SQL 2008 is the workhorse of the Microsoft product line, tirelessly working behind the scenes to provide the database features that your line of business programs require. Improvements to SQL 2008 include greater reporting features utilizing Tablix, enhanced graphical visualizations and better engine and algorithm predictions/ insight.

WatchGuard Firewalls

Keep out the bad stuff without the hassle of ISA!

WatchGuardSBS 2008 no longer comes with ISA - who used it anyways?! Gone are the days when a hacker just wanted notoriety and a high paying security job; today hackers want to retire to the Cayman Islands with your clients’ credit card numbers! Attacks are malicious and targeted. WatchGuard’s Unified Threat Management Solutions are intended to keep your data safe!

See these products in action at the Microsoft Across America Bus!!

Business Intelligence for Projects – BIO for Microsoft Dynamics SL

Type: Webinar
Date: September 30, 2008 | 2 PM EST
Register for webinar here

This webinar is for Microsoft Dynamics SL users who have a focus in projects. BIO is an information tool in Microsoft Dynamics SL that allows you to quickly and easily get the numbers and the data presented in any view that makes sense to you. Even non-SL users can see and use this data without having rights to SL or knowing how to use SL.

Here are just a few of the predefined Project Views:

  • Projects New and Reengaged
  • Projects Going Dormant
  • Single Project Snapshot
  • Employee Activity by Project & Task
  • Employee Activity Last 4 Weeks
  • Monthly Revenue & Cost Graph
  • Combined Unbilled & Scheduled Billing Aging Chart
  • New Projects Started in Last X Days
  • Projects in Process Worksheet
  • Project to Date Project Monthly Progression Analysis Chart
  • Interactive Project P&L
  • Interactive Project P&L Budget Variance Version

BIO is a user-friendly tool that allows you to drag and drop groupings based on how you want to see your data. For example, if you want to see Project Progression by month, this is a predefined view. But you can easily drag and drop the years you want to see so you can compare each month’s progression year over year!

Todd and I will be demonstrating how BIO can be used as an information tool to better monitor and analyze your projects. We’ll demonstrate how any executive or project manager can see real-time data in graphical or tabular format from within Outlook at any time.

Register here to watch the webinar from your desktop
on September 30th at 2 PM.
